(Mersea) Vocalist
Robert Earl Stewart channels Tom Waits and David Thomas on the a-side, on a
song that borrows the portrait painting, narrative power of those artists. But
I was more impressed by the b-side, which flirts with regular indie rock, then gets
super moody, and features crunching, nasty guitar flights from John Pilat. Not
sure if this is Alt Country, Indie Rock, Crampsabilly or Chamber story-core,
but I do know I’m looking forward to hearing the next record.
